Next it underlines the significant contribution of lotteries to society in terms of taxes and funding of good causes, and  stresses the major differences between the business model of the lotteries and the business model of other gambling operators. Finally, it provides some quantitative estimates of the likely impact on lotteries and good causes of a substantial shift of expenditures on gambling products from lotteries to other gambling operators.
